How to Cure Eczema on Hands

Eczema consists of watery, bumpy, red patches on the skin. It is generally most prominent on the hands, but it can spread to other parts of the body as well. Fingertip eczema is a condition in which the whole finger or parts of the finger are affected by eczema. There are plenty of natural remedies for eczema that have proven to effectively relieve symptoms, and in some instances, eliminate symptoms altogether. Unlike conventional medical treatments, eczema natural remedies can be used for the long-term without the undesirable side-effects.

1. To avoid and heal eczema, keep your hands well moisturized. Either you can ask your doctor to recommend you a suitable moisturizer or buy one yourself which is cream based. Remember, not to ever let your hands develop dry skin. If you want to know, "how to cure eczema on fingers?", before sleeping in the night, moisturize your hands properly by rubbing a thick moisturizer in between fingers and all other dry areas on the hand. Follow it up by wearing moisturizing gloves.

2. In addition to medications, patients may choose alternative therapies for eczema of the fingers. Patients can grate nutmeg and add water to make a paste to apply to the affected areas daily. Other recommended home remedies include rubbing the juice of green finger millet leaves on the area daily, adding indigo naturalis to mild lotion to make a topical ointment for daily use or adding one teaspoon of camphor oil to one teaspoon of sandalwood paste to rub on eczema as needed.

3. A short time in the sun with no sunscreen is one of the home remedies for eczema because the sun can skill any bacteria on your skin due to scratching. Obviously, you do not want to spend hours sunbathing since the sun's harmful rays can damage your skin, but 15 minutes in the sun between 10AM and 2PM can work wonders.

4. Coconut oil also has anti-inflammatory properties on top of its great moisturizing power. This is quite important especially in eczema because one of the most general and common symptoms of this skin disorder is skin inflammation. Generously apply pure coconut oil on the affected area especially before bedtime and you could use cold-compress for better results.

5. To avoid and cure eczema on hands, do not keep your hands in water for long as it may dry them out. Always use lukewarm water for taking bath, washing and cleaning as too hot or too cold water can dry the skin on hands. While washing clothes, take off your rings as they may trap detergents and cause an allergic reaction. As far as possible, keep stress at bay by undertaking exercises, yoga or meditation regularly.

6. Other home remedies for eczema include watermelon skins or peels. You get the fruit out of the peel and then press the inside of the peel against the affected area of the skin for several minutes.
