Top Smartphone Competition: HTC Mytouch 3G Slide VS HTC HD2
Design/ Form Factor
These HTC smartphones offer different designs with different emphasis. The HTC HD2's main feature is its huge display, which was one of the largest ever sported by a smartphone when it was released. This high-end smartphone features a massive 4.3-inch display with WVGA (480x800) resolution. The HD2 sports a slab style design that measures 4.74 inches tall by 2.64 inches wide and weighs 5.54 ounces. This handset sports a high-end shell with a mix of stainless steel and soft-touch finish that gives it a sturdy feel.
Unlike the HD2, the design of the HTC MyTouch 3G Slide does not revolve around its display. This handset sports a decent touchscreen with good size (3.4-inch) but its side slider design also conceals a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. This handset also sports a subtle chin on its bottom like other T-Mobile myTouch handsets.
The MyTouch 3G Slide has a relatively compact body that compact measure 4.6 inches tall by 2.4 inches wide by 0.6 inch thick and weighs 5.8 ounces. It's covered by a plastic shell but it has a solid feel and is sturdy enough to withstand a few falls without major damage.
Display/Touchscreen
As previously mentioned, one of the HD2's main selling points is its impressive 4.3-inch capacitive touch screen with sharp WVGA 480x800-pixel resolution. It's size compensate for the lack of a physical keyboard and it is vibrant, sharp, and readable in various lighting conditions.
The MyTouch 3G Slide's display is not as impressive as the HD2's but it is clear, bright and more than good enough for a mid-range smartphone. This Android smartphone features a 3.4-inch capacitive touchscreen with HVGA 320×480)resolution.
Operating System/ User Interface
This category may be the biggest difference between these HTC smartphones. The myTouch 3G Slide runs on Android 2.1, but the smartphone will be upgradable to the Froyo-flavored Android 2.2 later this year. This T-Mobile cell phone offers the carrier's interface built on top of HTC Sense so the experience is a bit different from other Android 2.1 smartphones. The result is a consumer-friendly interface with new features like the myModes, Genius Button and the Faves Gallery.
The Genius Button is a cool feature which allow users to use voice commands to make calls, compose and send messages, and search the Web and maps. The Faves Gallery allows users to instantly see and communicate with up to 20 favorite contacts and myModes enable users to customize the home screen with various apps, widgets, and wallpapers based on different themes.
The HTC myTouch 3G Slide also provides staple Android 2.1 features such as Google services, Microsoft Exchange support, full HTML Web browser, Quickoffice, Google Maps with Navigation and speech-to-text.
On the other hand, the HTC HD2 runs on the aging Windows 6.5 OS that has been described as "clunky" and this handset won't be upgradeable to Microsoft's new Windows Phone 7 mobile operating system. But as a consolation, Microsoft has said that it will continue to support Windows Mobile 6.5 for years to come.
Fortunately, the HTC Sense user interface makes Windows Mobile 6.5 more customizable and easier to use. This combination offers a tabbed toolbar along the bottom of the screen that allows users to easily run through and launch various apps by dragging a finger and then letting go when the desired program is reached.
The HD2 Home screen offers additional quick link boxes that allow users to create a shortcut for almost any app available on the phone as well as for contacts and bookmarks. The Home screen also enables users to view any upcoming appointments and get real-time weather information.
Unfortunately, HTC Sense cannot cover up for Windows Mobile's notorious usability issues that are noticeable on core apps, such as Microsoft Outlook.
Camera
The HD2 sports a powerful 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, dual LED flash, video-recording capabilities and standard editing options. It delivers great photo quality and very sharp images. The videos recorded on this handset are also good with only minimum blurriness.
The HTC myTouch 3G Slide also sports a 5-megapixel camera but this shooter is a bit disappointing. The quality of the images it delivered were poor and the indoor shots looked dull and gray. The flash has a tendency to blow out detail and pixelation and blurriness was observed in some pictures. On the bright side, the camera has a quick shutter speed, and the interface is touch-friendly and easy to use.
Processing Power:
The HTC HD2 is a very powerful smartphone with 1GHz Snapdragon processor with 1GB ROM and 576MB RAM. In comparison, the myTouch 3G slide offers a more modest 600MHz processor with 512MB Flash and 512 MB RAM.

ive not used mine for a while and for some reason the fire slide top control wont work properly
basically i can hold it down to light the fire but once i let get it goes out . ive tryed doing it all different ways but the fire wont stay on unless i keep hold of the control all the way down
any ideas on whats causing the problem
