When do New York City window displays, etc go up?
Going to New York City in the next month or so. I want to know when "prime time" is for seeing lots of holiday trimmings, window displays, etc?
Do they wait till after Thanksgiving to do it?
They are up before Thanksgiving. Everyone has them up pretty much by the weekend before Thanksgiving.
I saw them in the windows at Saks yesterday on 5th working on the design. I don't think there is an official date they all have them up on but they have been consistently up by the weekend before as far back as I can remember.
The tree lighting in Rock Center usually happens the first week of December. Beginning then until after New Year's is the craziest time in NY. Getting there before then is a good for avoiding crowds.
