The second of the four C’s is the colour: Most diamonds look white but they have a trace amount of yellow, diamond colour grades is based on lack of color, the diamond that has less color has a higher grade,. Then there are also fancy diamonds that are a available in a range of colors. Known as Z+ diamonds some of the colors are Red, Pink, Deep Yellow, Green, Blue and Black. The next of the four C’s is clarity: Almost every diamond contain inclusions, they are tiny traces or flaws within the diamond itself, often they are invisible to the naked eye but easily seen through a jewelries loupe, Diamonds with few or no imperfections are a higher price as they have a higher clarity grade.
And the last of the four C’s is the carat: The size of a diamond is measured by weight and the weight is measured in carats, we tend to see a diamond from the top and judge the size of the stone, not knowing how it was cut, the lower depth that a stone was cut the less carats it will weigh. Once you have decided the cut, clarity and colour of a diamond, it will be easier to select the carat weight of a diamond within your price range.
Although diamonds are the strongest material on earth they can be damaged if not looked after properly, they can be scratched and chipped, always store your diamond jewelry in a jewelry pouch by itself and not with other diamonds, they may damage each other and what ever you do don’t ever scratch a piece of glass with a diamond to see if your diamond is genuine, you will damage the stone. Take some time to keep your diamond jewelry as clean as possible.
